HORUS HERESY NOVELS IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER SERIES

There is a galaxy far, far away where a civil war rages, where the 'Emperor of Mankind', founder of the Imperium of Man - the proponent of Order in the Milky Way Galaxy, fights against 'Chaos' and its forces. Nemesis + The Lightening Tower + Blood Games ( Tales of Heresy) + Rules of Engagement ( Age of Darkness) + Liar's Due ( Age of Darkness) + Rebirth ( Age of Darkness) + Little Horus ( Age of Darkness) + Forgotten Sons ( Age of Darkness) The Last Remembrancer ( Age of Darkness) + The Iron Within ( Age of Darkness) + Savage Weapons ( Age of Darkness) A Complete List of Horus Heresy Books in Chronological Order. Mechanicum + Galaxy in Flames + Flight of the Eisenstein In fact there is material here for a good few very rewarding Horus Heresy short stories (or a pretty hefty novel): a pre-Heresy account of the bitter competition of Clan lords trying to excel, or an in-depth retelling of the council that took place on Medusa following Ferrus Manus’ death in an attempt to decide the Legion’s course of action. Scions of the Storm ( Tales of Heresy) + The Voice ( Tales of Heresy)Ī Thousand Sons + Prospero Burns + Battle for the Abyss After all, one of the stories even takes place before the Great Crusade. II: Visions of Darkness (2005) The Horus Heresy Vol. Tales Of Heresy seems to mostly occur before the rest of the series. I: Visions of War (2004) The Horus Heresy Vol. The next truly essential entry is A Thousand Sons, as the fall of Magnus and his thousand children is an essential part of the plot. That means breaking up the anthology stories, and uncollected shorts, and putting them into their rightful place in the reading order. After these first few books, the Horus Heresy splinters a little, with many of the following books covering events which precede the first five novels.

I understand the merits of reading in publication order, but chronological is the way for me. But a rough order of books with events happening at or during the same time would be:Ĭall of the Lion ( Tales of Heresy) + Wolf at the Door ( Tales of Heresy) + Legion + Promethean Sun I dont think you could read them in strictly chronological order A Thousand Sons starts well before Horus Rising and ends after Galaxy In Flames. Having dipped in here and there, Ive now committed to reading the entire Horus Heresy series - in chronological order. It's very difficult to place each of the series in a chronological order as most have events that happened before the heresy began, Fulgrim has the encounter with the Laer, Prospero Burns has lots of life of Fenris way before the heresy.
